What drives the price
1. Design
Ready-made template: a quicker start, but the site looks like many others.
Custom design: made for your identity, with sketches and revisions. It takes more time.
2. Features
Every feature means design, development, testing and maintenance. The ones that usually take the most work:
- more than one language (translation, review and separate page addresses for Google),
- bookings and user sign-in,
- card payments,
- links to a CRM, accounting or stock system.
3. Content
Finished copy, photos and a logo speed things up. Copywriting and photography are extra work, so a quote should list them separately.
4. Technology
WordPress: a quick start, but less freedom for custom features.
React and Next.js: more freedom and faster loading, but more development up front. We compare the two in React vs WordPress.
How to get a fixed quote
A fixed price stays the same unless the scope changes. For an accurate quote, describe:
- what the site is for and who it is for,
- the pages and features you must have, and the ones that can wait,
- examples of sites you like,
- who prepares the copy and photos,
- when you need it.
After a short call we send a written quote with the scope, the timeline and a fixed price. A simple website usually takes 2–4 weeks, more complex applications 2–3 months.
How to compare offers
You can only compare offers that describe the same work. Check:
- that the pages, features and languages are the same,
- what is included: design, content entry, SEO, testing and training,
- how changes are charged,
- whose name the domain and accounts are in,
- whether you get the code and access at the end.
A lower price often means a smaller scope. If something is not listed, assume it is not included.
How to save money
1. Start with a basic version
Build what you need now, and add the rest once you see how people use the site.
2. Prepare the content in advance
Finished copy and photos shorten the work and cut down on changes.
3. Choose the technology to fit the job
For a simple site WordPress is often enough. For more complex projects, custom development pays off in the long run.
4. Let one person make the decisions
One point of contact on your side means less waiting and fewer changes.
Recurring costs
On top of the build, budget for regular costs:
- Domainyearly
- Hostingmonthly or yearly
- Business emailper user
- Maintenancemonthly or as needed
- Licencesthemes, plugins, external services
Ask what maintenance covers (security updates, backups, changes) and whose name each item is in. The domain and the accounts should be in yours.
Conclusion
The price depends on the scope, design, content, integrations and maintenance. It is not black and white: two sites that look alike can need very different amounts of work.
After a 30-minute call we send a written fixed-price quote, free and without obligation. Read more about how we work on our web development page, or send us an enquiry.
